Hi Scott,

I find the shoulder shrug often a feminine gesture and recommend it to the singles women during Internet Dating Workshops I lead here in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. I just think of it as femmy. Then again my expertise with BL is applying it for flirting. So to read the more professionally accurate label that it is "submissive" completely make sense.

Thanks for sharing all of your body language mastery expertise with your readers.

Happy Dating and Relationships,

April Braswell, CHt, RH

A little tidbit that I noticed when out and about- Men tend to listen silently, and give much less cues as to listening. Whereas women tend to say "yes" "yup" "uh-huh", and the like. Why is this?

Is the shoulder shrug considered a submissive movement? Does the brain of the other person want to take initiative when it sees a shoulder shrug?
