Body language of holding hands

Body language of holding hands: Reading body language is all about looking at the person or the people and then taking the time to make an interpretation of what is going on. It really depends more about what the viewer thinks of the activities because the other person or people will react to what they think you believe is going on.

First off it’s a good reminder that it is important to baseline any situation that you are reading.

The nonverbal cues given by men and women holding hands can be read through a few different criteria:

  • ·         The proximity or the distance between the two people holding hands
  • ·         Where the hands are being grasped by the men and women
  • ·         The pace or speed of walking of the men and women in question
  • ·         Where the people are or the social surrounding

Body language of Proximity:

When reading the body language of holding hands it is important to look at how close the people are in relation to each other. It’s not just how close they are but it’s also how they hold each others hand. You have probably seen the guy holding the girls hand where he doesn’t really seem like he wants to hold the hand. Typically you will see a firm grasp but light grasp of the hand instead a lose grip on the fingers. You would see men and women in a loving relationship have a common grasp with each other.

Body language of relationships

When looking at how men and women hold hands you can get a feel for their relationship in some instances. There are times where one of the people has a scowl on their face, in some instances their may be the micro expression of contempt or possibly even the flash of anger.  There are times where you may see one of the people holding the others hand with wrap around the wrist. Some men and or women in close relationships will hold or pull each other close as they walk together or even sit together.

Normally the men and the women who are getting along well or in a good relationship will have a natural glide. Sometimes when there are problems or issues in the relationship you may see one person pulling the other as they walk or the man be walking faster than the other. On the other hand you may see those who are in a loving relationship walking slow and looking or gazing at each other.

What you want to look for is a common stride or pace between the two whether fast or slow.

If the couple is sitting you may see the man or woman holding the other person hand close they may even have the hand pulled up onto a part of the body. There are times where the hand may be getting rubbed by either person.

Body language of possession

When looking at the proximity of the men and women holding hands there are times where the bodies of the men and or the women are just too close, at sometimes just flat out awkward to look at. You will see people in a relationship within the bell bubble but when the proximity becomes too close it is may of a sign of possession or a really close relationship. You would only be able to tell by looking at the two people and base lining what their actions are.

The body language of possessiveness may just go one step further and that is when the man or women will have a good arm lock around the shoulder of the other person with them. When the two people walk together the person who may be possessive is standing straight up while the other man or woman is pulled in almost to the point where the man or woman who is being possessed has to walk leaning into the possessor.  You will typically see this type of possessive activity between younger couples.

You will want to look for jerky movements between the two and staring at others from one of the parties at the people around them.

Micro expressions of sadness and the eyes

When a man or a woman is sad their eyes will droop from the top and while looking at them they will not have focus. It will almost seem like they are not looking at anything in specific or have nowhere to go. There is no sense of purpose about the man or the woman who is showing the signs and signals of sadness.

Micro expressions of sadness and the mouth

As you look at a person who is displaying the micro expression of sadness you will see their mouth turn down with a slight pull to the corners. This look will be like a slight pout. You may even see a little twitching when looking at the corners

Micro expressions and the rest of the body language of sadness

Any emotion will leak through other parts of the body when someone is living through them. Most of the time when a man or woman is sad you will see them moving slower than normal almost like they are in a sped up version of slow motion. You may see their arms folded as if they are holding themselves. There may even be more signs in the body language of someone who is showing the emotion of sadness and that may be they the man or the woman will look downwards consistently. Last of all you may see that the man or woman who is sad breathes slower than normal.

Its always a good idea to baseline a person who’s body language you are reading first. This means that you watch their actions and or their micro expressions for a moment before coming to a conclusion about what their body language is saying.

Body language of contempt

Body language of contempt: When reading body language of the face there are 6 basic micro expressions that can be examined to understand and interpret the emotions of a man or woman that you are viewing.

While reading the body language of others it is telling to see where their emotional status is. One of the quickest and most effective ways of interpreting the emotions is to understand what the facial expressions mean.

Understanding what contempt is really helps as to understand what another person thinks of you. When a person has contempt for you their body language or nonverbal communication will show a half smile. Now this nonverbal cue may last less than a half second or last for a few seconds.

So what does the body language of contempt mean?

There are a few words associated with contempt:

  • ·         Disgust
  • ·         Disregard
  • ·         Anger
  • ·         Hatred
  • ·         Lack of respect

It is important to know when a man or woman shows the nonverbal actions of contempt because it will show you the beliefs that they have of you or whatever is going on at that moment.

It may be that it’s a

  • ·         New person to a group
  • ·         A business idea
  • ·         A problem with a relationship

Contempt signaled in any situation is not a good thing especially if you are in a relationship with the man or the women, if you are a figure of authority or if you are a salesperson this body language signal can let you know exactly where another person stands when they think of you or an idea.

There are good things about micro expressions and that is that they are very telling at the moment that they happen and they give away the position of the person who has the feeling and most times that person does not know that they are making the micro expression nor do most people have significant control over them.

The nonverbal signs and signals of contempt

Remember if a man or woman has contempt for you they will use a half smile on either side of their face. There are times where the person will look at you or they may even try to look away to hide the feelings and emotions that they have for you.

So which type is worse when they look at you with contempt or when they look away with contempt?

In any way contempt is shown the relationship has problems but a person who has a blatant disregard for you may give you more trouble because if they know what they are doing they are flaunting it in your face and may have more trouble in mind.

Contempt shown towards authority is dangerous because if the man or woman has this emotion they may think that they have nothing to lose. This micro expression is very telling and could save you from a dangerous situation or even a bad relationship.

Now with a phone there are many things that people can do whether checking emails, looking something up on their browser but along with those two features people listen to music on their head phones.

It may even be that the man or the woman whose body language you are reading is just using an mp3 player and not their phone.

Reading the body language of headphones will help you understand if the person is just listening to music, avoiding talking to people or trying to talk to people or draw attention by their actions.

There are so many items that a person could be listening to while you read their body language and it could be that they are listening to:

•           Music

•           Training information like sales or negotiating

•           A prerecorded conference call

•           Not even listening to anything at all so people will ignore them but will speak when wanted to.

Reading body language of avoidance with headphones

When a person is listening to music and wanting to get away from others you will notice that they will make weak or no eye contact. Along with the weak eye contact if walking they will take a path to avoid people also.

The person who is using the nonverbal communication of avoidance may walk at a fast pace to get past others.

It is even common place to see people wearing their headphones and while working to avoid others the headphones may keep mall kiosk people from asking questions or interacting. The avoidance is common for men or women at the gym, while at work and even sometimes at play.

Reading body language of interaction with headphones

On the other hand you may have a person who is wearing their headphones but also interacting with other people. You will notice that they make eye contact with others and that they may smile to people as they go by. This would be a clue that the person with the headphones on is willing to interact.

The person who is willing to interact with others may show the signs with their body language by having one cup off their ear or they may have a bud from the smaller headphones out of an ear. This man or woman may take the cup off or the bud out just in time to interact with another person.

Reading body language of headphones getting attention

Now if the person who is wearing the headphones is trying to attract attention they will associate much more moving physically to get people to notice them. They may bang their head they may dance along with the song or they may just move their arms. Verbally they may sing to get the attention of others. The man or the woman with their headphones on may even try to get others to dance with them.
