Body language of impatience

Body language of impatience has a few key components that can help you understand and interpret what signs and signals you can watch or see and almost immediately determine impatience. Now there is always the temptation to believe or to think that you know exactly what an action of the body means and therefore what the other person or people are thinking. Base lining or watching the man woman or child to determine their normal behavior patterns is always important to ensure that you read their message right. You will want to watch the person for a few moments to determine normal patterns or routines that they have.

It may be that you are the coolest person on the planet and everyone likes to hang out with you but what about when that person that is with you needs to be somewhere else or they are uncomfortable in their surrounding? You may find that the signs and signals of impatience show through and if they are not deal with your message may be lost.

People can be impatient for many reasons but you will really find that there are really 2 reasons almost everything will fall under:

  • ·         They are not interested in what you have to say or offer because they are busy
  • ·         They have somewhere to be because they are busy and they are not interested in what you have to say or offer

As you watch and read the body signals of a person you can work with the top down approach and that is to start with the head and move down the rest of the body.

Impatience and the body language of the head, shoulders and torso

You may find that when anyone has somewhere to be they may not keep eye contact with you or may turn their head slightly while talking to you almost as if they are talking out the side of their mouth. The head of the person may even nod their head away from you as a nonverbal way to try and escape form the situation. Where you would normally find good eye contact with the person if you know them and now they will not hold it for very long chances are good that something else is going on and they would rather be somewhere else.

When you look at the trunk of the body, the shoulders or even the torso when there is impatience you may also see that there is a shift away from you to a door or someone else, their proximity to you may change. The level of the shoulders may change and tilt away from you or the man, woman or child will lean away from you. This may be a sign that the person you are with does not want to be with you or they need to be somewhere else.

In some instances you may see the breathing pattern change and the person starts to take deep breaths.

Body language of the infamous hand roll

There has been a time where either you have done this or someone has done the action of rolling their hands or arms to you. This sign or signal is a way for the person to say without saying let’s get this ball rolling or move on. If you are a persuader or influencer your commitment to a message or a time has overstepped its bounds and chances are good you are about to lose the arrangement or agreement. This hand or arm roll may also be used with the head nodding as the impatience wears into the conversation. At first these signs may be subtle with a finger roll and may lead into full blown hand and arm rolls.

A common set of body language signs of impatience paired together.

The changes in the body language may include groups or clusters of different actions along with the shifting of the body and or torso.

  • ·         Hand and arm rolls
  • ·         Glaring of the eyes
  • ·         Loss or lack of eye contact
  • ·         Micro expressions of contempt
  • ·        Shaking of the head
  •           Deep breaths and or sighs
  • ·         Foot tapping
  • ·         A body tilt toward the door
  • ·         A change in proximity
  • ·         Signs of pouting in the face
  • ·         Over animation in the arms and head
  • ·         Feet shifting away from you

There may also be some ever so subtle signs and signals that may even be considered convert could include the feet and hands of the person who is impatient. It may just be that the person who is impatient is slightly pointing their hand or starts to point a foot away from you.

Verbal actions coupled with nonverbal actions

Impatience not only changes the nonverbal actions of the body but may also include the verbal attributes of another person wanting or having to be somewhere else. The pace of the words may speed up along with sentences that become shorter when impatience is present. Answers to questions may also become “yes” or “no” answers to get away faster.

Couple the all of the actions of the body along with the nonverbal actions and you spot when impatience has set in.

What to do with the signs of impatience

There will be times that you will read the signs of impatience and there is a right way to deal with the situation. You can use a phrase similar to “I sense you have somewhere else to be”. Now this can be done wrong if you are not patient and it isn’t vocalized the right way and if that is the case the nonverbal actions of the man or the woman will really change and they will react to you in a negative way.

Remember to be patient as you read the body language of others and that your reactions can cause more problems than what you started with.

Learning how to read body language can increase you effective communication skills.

Body language of listening

Body language of listening: One of the biggest complaints among people who have conversations is that the man or the woman is not listening.

It doesn’t matter if you are in a relationship, work for someone or even have kids at some point you have wondered if the people around you are listening.

As with any project or time with reading the body language of others you will want to baseline or watch the person for a moment to understand their signs and or signals before making a judgment.

Nonverbal signs of listening

There are a few nonverbal signs when it comes to listening:

  • ·         Eye contact
  • ·         Direction of the body
  • ·         Tilt of the head
  • ·         Nonverbal actions
  • ·         Micro expressions

Body language of eye contact and listening

When talking to others both men and women prefer that the person that is listening has good eye contact with the speaker. For most people it’s a sign of respect and just a good overall sign that the eye contact is present. Now there are people who pretend that they are listing and they have great eye contact. If it’s just eye contact and no other nonverbal sign the man or woman may be concerned that listening is not happening.

Nonverbal actions of listening and the direction of the body

Now when a man or woman is listening to you they may turn their body slightly while they listen. If you are not familiar with the person facing each other and standing or sitting too close may cause some altercations. If there is an anticipation of issues it may be best to slightly turn to not aggravate the man or the woman talking to you. This may work well for relationships or in business interactions, just remember slight as it may be a sign that you want to be out of the conversation.

When the man, woman or child is not facing you there will be signs and signals that you will want to look for like shaking the head or using a symbol.

Body language of listening and the tilt of the head

For some men or women that listen actively they will tilt their head to the right or to the left and may even turn their head towards the speaker. Now this is not always the case but there are times where people do so and it may even be when it is difficult to hear in a loud location. Tilting the head is not a definite sign that there is listening going on but may give you a clue to if the man or the woman is listening to what you are saying.

Nonverbal actions of listing

Now some of the other signs and signals of listening is the head, hand or arm movement or even symbols that could be shown. Now people may shake their head yes or no when they listen to you. Now this may be through a sales presentation, a sermon, an argument between a boyfriend or girlfriend or just an everyday conversation.

You may see a man or women give you the thumbs up sign here in the United States or even use an arm swipe as to say no way. There may even be a time where the man or the woman throws their hands up as a sign of giving up while you talk and that may just be a sign that they are about to give up and walk away.

There may even be some signs by shrugging the shoulders or throwing the hands up in the air. There are times where people get impatient and tap pens or anything similar.

Micro expressions and the signs of listening

As a man or women listens to you they may get emotional for the good or even for the bad and you may be able to see that through their microexpressions. You may have a coworker or friend that gets angry from your conversation and when you see that you may want to change the course of the conversation. It doesn’t make sense for you to expect the other person to listen to you and you then not listen to them.

You will also want to show your active listening body language or nonverbal communication with the other man or woman. Just remember the law of reaction because the reaction or the signs and signals you exhibit may cause the other person to react to what you do.  Be patient with others while they communicate and they should be patient with you.

Learning how to read body language can be fun and make your own communication more effective.

body language of blinking

Body language of blinking: When reading the body language or nonverbal communication of others one of the items that may identify deceit, lies, stress or even medical conditions is blinking. The action of blinking happens naturally and you can easily make mistakes when it comes to interpreting what blinking means.

There are some actions that people really cannot control that perform necessary functions and blinking is one of them.  This action keeps the eyes moisturized but also protects the eyes from debris and bright lights.

The average person blinks every 3-12 seconds and that can work out to 8-10 blinks per minute unless under stress or medical conditions.

Under stress, while fabricating or while lying the rate of blinking may increase.

Body language of blinking and lying

One common mistake that people make when reading the body language of a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife is that they are too quick to believe that excessive blinking is a definite sign of lying.

One of the signs of deception and or lying can be excessive blinking and through plenty of misinformation it’s an automatic belief in some it means lying. Now it may also be that the man or woman is under stress. You will have to be careful and baseline the person that you are examining to look for traits that would lead you to understand if it is a lie that is causing the blinking or jest the stress of being questioned. You will also want to take a look at the micro expressions that a man or woman has because if the person does not know about the accusations they should show surprise.

As a man or woman lies they may have a cluster of body language actions that happen when they start to deceive or fabricate. There may be touching of the face, excessive licking of the lips, a change in the breathing patterns, lack of eye contact, a long rub or stroke of a body part like the arm or leg. With these clusters you may notice that the blink rate would increase. This is where you would want to start questioning the story of what is going on if there is a combination of these items going on.

It could be either be the stress of the encounter or the fact that the man or woman is lying and in some instances it could be both. Just take your time before you make a judgment.

Body language of stress or fatigue

Fatigue or stress also may directly influence the rate of blinking. When being questioned by a significant other the stress alone may cause some questions about the blink rate. The signs and signals of stress or fatigue will be slower actions from the body.

Body language of blinking and allergies and medical conditions

Nervous system ailments can cause men or women to blink faster than normal and these faster blinks will be consistent for the most part.

Having contacts in may also cause extra blinking so if you know that the man or woman has contacts there is a time where you may want to count this item.

When eyes are itchy there are times where men and or women will blink faster than normal, you may see that they eyes are red and or puffy when this happens. When there is an issue or medical condition the faster blink rate may or may not be consistently fast. There are some people that when interacting with others that blink faster than what they would if they were not. People who work in dimly lit areas may also have blinking triggered.

Reading the body language of others along with their nonverbal signs and signals can help you understand if a man or woman is lying.

As always I would like to thank you in advance for your comments and or questions about blinking and lying.

Body language of successful women

Body language of successful women: Having the ability to read body language like an expert  can help you in many situations whether professional, personal or even when it is dangerous. Understanding the cues or nonverbal actions that men and women take will allow you the ability.

Women have some specific traits that they have when it comes to body language and typically women are softer when it comes to their actions and what they do than what you would find with the body language of a man. This is not a judgment or a bad thing it just is what it is.

The approach that women have when working with others is different than what a man might do and this ranges from the way that they walk up to a man or woman and what body language or nonverbal actions that they use.

Women have come far in the short span of the last 50 years just going back that far it wasn’t common for a woman to own a business or to be successful without a man. It’s a great and fantastic thing that it is more and more common to see successful women.

When it comes to the nonverbal signs of successful women there will be plenty of “maybe’s and “possibly” statements as there is no exact uniform body language of successful women or men just some common threads that may or may not happen as with any other reading of nonverbal actions.

As a general guide you will always want to baseline the man or the woman that you want to read the body language of especially if you are going to interact, you will not want to have some issues with the law of reaction.

When successful women read your body language or nonverbal actions know and understand that you will be under far more scrutiny than you would be of that of a successful man, they will know what to look for.

Body language of successful women and confidence

Typically for all of the issues that have held women successful women back they will normally show good signs of confidence. The successful women will normally glide while they walk and it will seem like its even. The eye contact may be stronger than normal as successful women have probably been “eye checked” to see how serious they may be about their business strategies and or tactics and this may really be the case when a man doesn’t believe that “she” will be able to succeed.   Women can tell when a man or another woman lacks confidence as they have been approached for dating and can interpret the bad sigans and signals from the lack of confidence.

Body language of successful women’s hands and touching others

Typically women take better care of their hands than what men do. You may notice that a successful woman has possible manicured hands and clean skin. A woman who is successful may or may not touch others but when she does it will be appropriate to make sure that the wrong message is not sent to the recipient especially if the recipient is a man. To put it simply a successful woman will know where to touch and where not to no matter what her hands look like.

Pay attention to how you touch a woman successful or not for them it will be a comfort zone issue. Know that the general rule is that it is ok to touch a woman after they have touched you in limited locations like particularly on the back of their arm from the shoulder to the elbow. Now for the guys who think that they are pick up artists or alpha males the men may think that these rules do not apply to them.

If you are a man or woman reading this women will be looking at your hands to determine what they can decipher about you without even talking.

Body language of successful women’s clothing

You may find that successful women dress well, now that doesn’t always mean expensive cloths but you will find that most of the time successful women will make sure that their presentation of what they wear is acceptable to the other women and men around them.

If you get the chance to ask women who they dress up for whether its shoes, clothing, makeup, accessories and they will normally say that they way that they look is for other women to not be judged by them. This may not be the case for men, for the most part men only worry about what woman think (this is not a 100% for every man).

A successful woman will show through he nonverbal signs of her clothing that she is a force to be reckoned with especially if she is used to seeing the micro expressions of contempt.

Women whether successful or not will typically pay attention to how other women and men are dressed and make their decisions based upon what they see.

Body language of successful women’s accessories

You will find that successful women will typically know the limitations of what accessories should be worm in each occasion. You may find that “she” has bracelets, earrings, pendants on a chain or a ring that are tasteful but not excessive. This is not a 100% rule as some successful women make sure that you know she has money and the diamonds and gold will prove it.

You may find that the successful woman is carrying a nice purse and that her accessories have to match what she is wearing.

Body language of successful women’s shoes

Men typically don’t understand that for women shoes are an accessory that can make or break an outfit whether a woman is successful or not it is typical for women to pay close attention to shoes but not just theirs, but your also.

For some women dirty shoes are a deal breaker especially if you have not taken care of yours. That means that they better be cleaned and or polished and this could be for a man or a women. Women usually pay more attention to details and make their decisions based upon “gut instinct” more than what men do.

If you tell a woman that you are successful the shoes that you wear as a man or a woman may just give away whether you are telling the truth or fabricating your abilities.

Body language of successful women’s nonverbal actions

Successful women will understand the rules of proximity even if they don’t know a name like “bell bubble”. Women can be more intuitive when it comes to dealing with others and may have a better sense of paying attention to what their body is doing so that they do not have to answer for it later.

A successful women will pay attention to your nonverbal actions to see if what you are saying will match up to what your body is saying or doing.

It is not ever a good idea to lie to someone but lying to a successful woman would be a mistake especially if they have kids because they are used to seeing kids make things up to not get into trouble. If she thinks for a second that you are not being truthful chances are you are done and will not get a second chance.

Body language of successful women and double standards

Over the years with women being around business the unofficial rules have relaxed but there still is plenty of room to make changes. You may see successful women show the signs of frustration while dealing with others especially if there are double standards as to what they are doing and dealing with men. Women can touch other women or men but its not the other way around for women getting touched by men there is a double standard but that isn’t a bad thing.

Body language of successful women as times change

It’s a good thing to see women making their way more into the business world. A recent article said that 70% of all new businesses being started are by women. It will be interesting to see the types of changes that move forward as women become more successful and the culture of business changes. Hopefully the endeavors work out for the women and you will get more of a chance to read the nonverbal actions and signs of successful women in the future.

Reading the body language of anyone can be beneficial to your professional, personal and even dating life. Home study course can be used when you want and at your own pace.

Body language of glasses

Body language of glasses: When looking at the body language of men or women who wear glasses there is definitely some nonverbal communication going on whether they think so or not.

When you look at a man or a woman you make some assumptions about them and how they will be or even their intelligence level. When you make these assumptions you will fall into the law of reaction.

Body language experts will share with you it only matters what the viewer thinks is going on and this is important to note as you will think certain things about people by the way that they dress, their accessories and even the way that they look physically.

Is that a bad thing…

Not really as we are a very visual society and part of that is making judgments about people and their nonverbal actions.

Body language of glasses and your thoughts

When you see or think of a man or woman with glasses what are some of your common thoughts about the person that is wearing them

  • ·         Smart
  • ·         Book worm
  • ·         Some may find glasses sexy
  • ·         Interesting
  • ·         Educated
  • ·         Mild mannered
  • ·         Persuader
  • ·         No thoughts or beliefs at all about the person

No matter what your first thought is there was a message sent by the man or the woman who has the accessory

Body language of glasses and location

When looking at the body language of men or women that wear glasses you will want to look at their location.

Are they at school?

Are they at work?

Should they have surgery to not have to wear glasses?

Do they have a lack of confidence in social situations because they are wearing glasses?

Sometimes men and or women will not wear their glasses to certain events because they think that they will be judged socially. In some of these instances they may wear contacts or the men or the woman may go without their glasses even if it could be a safety concern for driving or being out in public.

Body language of glasses a super hero article

For some people who are in the business of persuading others they may have frames that are real from glasses but the lenses are not prescription. Now at first this persuasion strategy may sound strange but wait a second.

Who was the smartest kid in school?

The kid with glasses…

Who was the kid you couldn’t hit or be mad at?

The kid with glasses…

Who had all of the smart answers?

The boy or girl with glasses

Sure they were made fun of but they had special protection and because they had glasses those boys and girls become men and women and now the have special powers

..because they are smart and have all of the answers and you can’t get mad at them

So in this case the glasses can be a prop that gives the wearer power but it’s also a disguise or these glasses give the man, woman, boy or girl confidence when they are worn and that helps make them become a super hero article.

When someone has glasses on you may see body language of confidence or you may even see a lack of confidence.

Whatever you see in the body language or the nonverbal communication of men or women you will want to take the time to base line the situation so that you interpret the signs and signals the right way.

Learning how to read body language can be fun even when interpreting what glasses mean for nonverbal communication.

Body language of cufflinks

Body language of cufflinks: When looking at the nonverbal communication others you can look to their accessories to give you some nonverbal clues.

When looking at the body language of cufflinks you will want to look at the man or the woman wearing them. Traditionally cufflinks are an accessory that men would typically wear but some designers are adding cufflinks to women’s accessories.  In some instances they may add confidence or help with the lack of confidence.

There are a few things to look at when determining the nonverbal communication of an accessory and what it contributes to the body lf the man or the woman wearing them:

  • ·         What are they wearing, a suit or just a nice shirt
  • ·         Where are they and does the clothing match the occasion
  • ·         Is the man or woman showing off jewelry
  • ·         Are the cufflinks a super hero article or a trophy?

 YouTube Preview Image

Body language of cufflinks and a suit

Cufflinks add one more layer of customization when it comes to dressing up. There are all sorts of different designs and or materials that cufflinks are made of. For some men that dress up they match their cufflinks to their ties and or other accessories. Depending upon what the cufflinks look like they may or may not add to the appearance or the persona of the man or the woman wearing them. Some may say that a suit with a shirt that has French cuffs that allow cufflinks is more elegant and more professional.

Body language of a special occasion

There are some men or women who only wear their special shirt and cufflinks for a certain occasion. This would be for them to dress up for a special event and for them it isn’t an everyday item. This is where the extra layer of elegance for some would be. Cufflinks seem to be a special item to wear but not something every day.

Body language of persuasion and cufflinks

You may see top persuaders wear cufflinks as it does add to their appearance. For some people cufflinks are intimidating because they are not normally an everyday item for some people. In some industries the persona of the person wearing them makes them seem more professional or even the idea that there will be extra cost involved.

Body language of a status symbol

Just like any other accessory there is a wide range of options when it comes to cost and or design. You may find threaded balls that can be used as the cufflink but if one to wear the silk balls for a night out on town he or she may be judged for not “dressing up” enough for the situation these designs can run from $10- 15 for the set, so they may be considered the first step in cuff links

There are ranges from $6 to $2,500 or more for cufflinks as every major designer makes some for their clothes. You may find companies like:

  • ·         Scott Kay
  • ·         King Baby
  • ·         Konstantino
  • ·         David Donahue
  • ·         Burberry
  • ·         Louis Vuitton
  • ·         Gucci
  • ·         Tateossian RT

These manufacturers may have all sorts of designs from a classic silver plate with minimal designs all the way to football teams, animals, insects or other types of objects. For the cufflinks above the $150 range there are so many options to choose from;

  • ·         Silver and other jewelry
  • ·         Diamonds and or other precious stones
  • ·         Buffalo nickels and or other types of monetary coins

As a status symbol the accessories for the accessories can be fairly intricate and layered with precious stones and or metals. For the men or the women who wear cufflinks that are status symbols you may see them intently showing off what they are wearing. Maybe the man or the woman moves their arm awkwardly in order to get those around to see what they are wearing as an accessory. You may even see the man or the woman not showing off but still getting attention from the design in the cufflinks or the way that they match up with the clothing.

Body language of cufflinks and super hero articles or trophies

For some that wear cufflinks they may be a trophy or a gift. For some they may have been worn to a special occasion and have a special meaning. It may be that they were given as a prize or as an introduction into a group. When looked at like they have special powers they may be a super hero article. Now in an instance like this you may see the man or the woman wearing the cufflinks showing off or even being as covert as possible while wearing the trophy or the super hero article.

No matter who is wearing the cufflinks and where you are you will want to baseline the situation to see what is going on. The person wearing the accessories they may or may not be wearing a suit but there is a reason why they are wearing them. Just take your time and baseline the interactions that they are having nonverbally. Many times questions about interesting looking cufflinks may be a good opener when looking for a reason to start a conversation. Many times it’s an easy compliment and a way to get talking especially when they are intricate.

There is so much to the nonverbal stories and actions behind accessories and it’s not always an easy read.

Body language of holding hands

Body language of holding hands: Reading body language is all about looking at the person or the people and then taking the time to make an interpretation of what is going on. It really depends more about what the viewer thinks of the activities because the other person or people will react to what they think you believe is going on.

First off it’s a good reminder that it is important to baseline any situation that you are reading.

The nonverbal cues given by men and women holding hands can be read through a few different criteria:

  • ·         The proximity or the distance between the two people holding hands
  • ·         Where the hands are being grasped by the men and women
  • ·         The pace or speed of walking of the men and women in question
  • ·         Where the people are or the social surrounding

 YouTube Preview Image

Body language of Proximity:

When reading the body language of holding hands it is important to look at how close the people are in relation to each other. It’s not just how close they are but it’s also how they hold each others hand. You have probably seen the guy holding the girls hand where he doesn’t really seem like he wants to hold the hand. Typically you will see a firm grasp but light grasp of the hand instead a lose grip on the fingers. You would see men and women in a loving relationship have a common grasp with each other.

Body language of relationships

When looking at how men and women hold hands you can get a feel for their relationship in some instances. There are times where one of the people has a scowl on their face, in some instances their may be the micro expression of contempt or possibly even the flash of anger.  There are times where you may see one of the people holding the others hand with wrap around the wrist. Some men and or women in close relationships will hold or pull each other close as they walk together or even sit together.

Normally the men and the women who are getting along well or in a good relationship will have a natural glide. Sometimes when there are problems or issues in the relationship you may see one person pulling the other as they walk or the man be walking faster than the other. On the other hand you may see those who are in a loving relationship walking slow and looking or gazing at each other.

What you want to look for is a common stride or pace between the two whether fast or slow.

If the couple is sitting you may see the man or woman holding the other person hand close they may even have the hand pulled up onto a part of the body. There are times where the hand may be getting rubbed by either person.

Body language of possession

When looking at the proximity of the men and women holding hands there are times where the bodies of the men and or the women are just too close, at sometimes just flat out awkward to look at. You will see people in a relationship within the bell bubble but when the proximity becomes too close it is may of a sign of possession or a really close relationship. You would only be able to tell by looking at the two people and base lining what their actions are.

The body language of possessiveness may just go one step further and that is when the man or women will have a good arm lock around the shoulder of the other person with them. When the two people walk together the person who may be possessive is standing straight up while the other man or woman is pulled in almost to the point where the man or woman who is being possessed has to walk leaning into the possessor.  You will typically see this type of possessive activity between younger couples.

You will want to look for jerky movements between the two and staring at others from one of the parties at the people around them.

Reading body language risks

There is always a risk in reading body language and that is you can make assumptions too quickly as to what is going on and you may have the possibility of being wrong. Learning how to read the nonverbal communication of others takes time and patience. Body language of mirroring

Mirroring body language: There are plenty of cool things that you can do when it comes to learning how to read body language or even interpret the nonverbal signs of men or women. One of the most important items that you can learn to help your persuasive abilities, best of all when done right you have some covert skills and it’s all nonverbal.

The term mirroring means that you would do nonverbally what the other person does:

  • ·         They woman touches her face, you touch your face
  • ·         She crosses her legs you cross your legs
  • ·         The man smiles you smile
  • ·         You yawn and then she yawns
  • ·         He touches you, you touch him back

Wait it means that the mirroring and body language goes both ways?

Yes it does and you may have not ever noticed that salespeople may have mirrored you.

There is a point where you build enough rapport where they may start to follow you and then follow your lead (pace).

Body language mirroring of similar not exact

Mirroring body language can go wrong and that is for a few reasons and it makes your actions overt instead of covert:

Too similar too soon means that your reaction is too quick and that is a common body language mistake. The whole idea for your mirroring or copying is to be covert and not overt. When mirroring is done right the other person may or may not know that you are either pacing them or mirroring them.

Many times when people hear about or are shown mirroring they become too eager to get started and their movements are so quick that it isn’t really natural. These super skills that are supposed to help along with the process of rapport and or the persuasion process then end up hurting the person that they are supposed to help.

Just be patient when learning this new covert body language skill and you will be rewarded.

Body language of mirroring of similar

When mirroring a man or woman your bodies actions only have to be similar.

  • ·         When she touches her face you can touch you’re a few seconds later but do not touch it in the same exact spot
  • ·         When he crosses his legs you can wait a few seconds or a moment and then you cross your legs

Body language of pacing and leading

Pacing and leading is a strategy from NLP. Pacing means that you are following a man or woman. Leading would be when they are following you. Now throughout an interaction you can switch up the leader or the pacer.

You will know you are in good rapport when it goes both ways. At some moments it may be a body language strategy to give up some power and follow a man or woman and in some instances you may want to be in charge and have them follow you.

Body language of mirroring and touch

Now when it comes to touch there are common mistakes that you can make. In real time if you are waiting 5 – 10 seconds after someone makes movement for you to copy you will want to wait a few seconds longer if this action has to do with touch. You will have to practice this out with another man or woman that you know but you cannot tell them what you are doing to so that you can get the timing right. You can let the man or the woman in on your secret after you have practiced a few times. Mirroring touch has to feel natural or the situation will become very awkward.

Touching too quickly is also a common body language mistake.

Body language of mirroring and where to practice

How to learn body language made simple. You can practice mirroring body language anywhere and find it to be an effective use of nonverbal communication. You can just sit down at the coffee shop and watch a man or woman out of the corner of your eye and do a similar action and then when the man or woman changes their position you wait a few moments or even seconds and then do something similar but not exact. You may even want to watch the distance that you keep from the person when you make the touch so that you know where your proximics are or the “bell bubble”

Normally when someone hears about mirroring or wants to learn about it they make this common mistake for body language and that is to move too quickly.

As a side note while mirroring a man or woman out in public they may come over to you and ask questions like “Do we know each other”? This action is common along with them interacting with you somehow.

You can literally practice mirroring men or women’s nonverbal actions anywhere and get the same type of results. You may notice the next time someone is trying to influence you that they start to mimic or mirror your actions. You will be able to tell how good they are by their lag time or if they have just started by their ability to covertly mirror others.

Body language of shyness

Body language of shyness: The nonverbal actions of shy men or women can help you understand the nonverbal actions that someone would take.

Many times introverts or shy people will have many of the same traits or characteristics. Just because someone may have one or two of the traits of a shy person does not mean that the person is shy. It is always important to base line the body language of a man or woman before you draw your conclusions or thoughts about who or what they are.  Whether it is for business, pleasure or even dating these signs and signals will help you interpret how to interact with a shy person.

Nonverbal communication of a shy man or woman may include:

  • ·         Little or no eye contact
  • ·         Less proximity around others
  • ·         Nonverbal actions of the arms and or head

Many times people who are shy have little or no eye contact with others. You may see a man, man woman or child try to avoid eye contact with others while out walking around in public or even private. For some this may be a condition that becomes consistent over time and become a normal action.

Shy people know that eye contact may create conversation or interactions. Many times interactions with crazy people happens because good or strong eye contact is made.

Proximity of shy people and others

When a shy person is around others you may see that they do what they can to stay away from the people that they do not know. Even with some friends you may or may not see the shy man or woman even near or in the Bell Bubble or within the intimate distance of friends. In a social setting you may not see a shy person in the center of the room without a friend or group of friends. Shy people tend to stay out of the possibility of even being the center of attention.

Many times shy people will not wear flashy clothes but there is a chance that some will do so to get attention drawn to them so that people will approach them.

Nonverbal actions of shy people

As you observe the nonverbal actions of shy men or women you may see that their arms are folded or their head may be down. Now this isn’t always the case just as with every other aspect of body language there isn’t always exact actions that take place but many common ones that you can baseline.

How to interact with shy men or women

Interacting with shy people can go wrong if you act too quickly because not all of the time are they used to close proximity or others talking to them. You will want to watch the body language of a shy man or women as you approach them as you will literally see them start to get uncomfortable when you have entered into their private space and that space may be larger than for someone who is very outgoing.

When approaching a shy woman you would want to enter into her field from an area what she can she and the best way may be from an angle instead of head on or from behind.

You will not want to touch a shy man or woman too quickly as this may be too much for them to process.

Smiling may help with your endeavor but if you smile too much or too hard it may seem a little creepy or that you are trying too hard.

With shy men or women it is important to be patient with them as you interact with them just like anyone else but it may take even more time than normal

Body language of facial hair

Body language of facial hair: There are plenty of reasons why men have facial hair. Sometimes you will see men with long or short beards, moustaches, lamb chops or anything similar. The nonverbal communication can vary from no reason to having a good purpose as to hide from someone or something. When looking at the body language or nonverbal communicaiton you will always want to base line the man or men that you are looking at.

There are a few things to look for and that is:

  • ·         How trimmed is it
  • ·         Is it done for fun or can you figure out a reason
  • ·         How does it help the man create an identit

Body language of facial hair and social norm: As of right now in the spring of 2012 having a beard is the cool thing to do. There are plenty of musicians right now who have short beards. The fashion magazines right now have men with facial hair. A few years back the cool thing to do was to have a shaved head and a goatee. For some this would be a way to help with maintaining or creating an identity.

Body language of facial hair authority figures: Sometimes you will see authority figures with facial hair whether it is a moustache or something similar to a goatee. There is the belief that a man with either of these items can be used to intimidate people becasue it may hide facial expressions. It is really common to see state troopers with facial hair. For firemen it is a tradition and there are some times where the guys in the firehouse have a competition. These facial hair competitions are also common in some militaries.

Body language of facial hair and comfort: You may see men with a little facial hair and it may be for no other reason than that they didn’t want to shave. There is no reason to read into this. You may see this happen on any given day. For some it’s because they got up late, for some they may have skin that get irrigated easily and for some there is no reason they don’t have to.

Body language of facial hair and how to hide from society: While viewing some men with beards whether short or long they may be used as a guise to hide from society. Some may say that this type of using the facial hair to hide from life. Now there are some regions of the world where long beards are just a custom and it would be strange to not have one.

Body language of facial hair and religion: Now there are some religions that use facial hair as part of religious ceremonies and commitments in a case where a man uses his facial hair as o covenant there really isn’t a social reason why they do so. For some who do not understand or share these beliefs this may seem unusual
